#2023-06 Updates
Season 3 is here, new healers joining the networks, iterating on Ritual and a reminder on the importance of movement.
Hello there, it’s Shan here today, I’ll be taking over from Jan for this month’s checkin. Sit tight, get comfortable, and maybe even grab a coffee, we have lots of exciting updates to share from the month of June!
UPCOMING
To remind ourselves to move
Working from home is a terrible recipe for forgetting to move, and fantastic at prompting Apple Health to judge how few steps I’m taking in the day.
That’s why for this month’s Happy Hour, we’re excited to welcome Dr Kai Koch, an emergency physician based in London with an interest in lifestyle medicine. Dr Kai will be sharing with us the importance of movement in nurturing our health and wellbeing, with a focus on some simple steps we can all make in our own lives. I hope we might take this as a gentle invitation to get those extra steps in.
Ritual v2
June was a month of learning and growing for all of us. We have been getting great feedback from the gracious attendees of Ritual in the Kernel Care Space, and Jan has been hard at work integrating all of that into an improved Ritual experience. To highlight a few key takeaways:
We learnt the importance of intentionally grouping Ritual participants to create a more welcoming and open space for everyone.
We grappled with scheduling conflicts across global timezones as our healers travelled over summer.
Tatiana grounded us with the truth that Ritual is about the participants not the tools.
Special thanks to Ray for sharing a collaborative approach to Ritual using Miro boards, which informs a lot of the design changes in the upcoming version. If you would like to participate in beta-testing the new Ritual experience, let us know.
CATCH-UP
Some new faces!
This month, we welcome four new additions to the network. Making HEA part of their internship experience are Ngyuen and Hoang Thang, from Fullbright University in Vietnam. They will be assisting the Outreach Squad in working hard to bring more like-minded people together, here at Happily Ever After.
They are also learning super fast about web3 and the opportunities that DAOs bring to social organization. Watch them give us a presentation on everything they’ve learnt about web3, just a week after they joined us!
Joining us as a healer this month, is @msjoedor. Jo is a holistic coach with an ever bubbly personality, who we couldn’t be more excited to welcome into the community. You can check out her twitter and bio to find out more about her!

TODO
July’s global check-in
Try this activity for the month of June and let us know by 31st July how it went for you on any of our community/social channels. POAPs for attending and sharing your experience at any of our live events. It’ll only take 10 minutes, I promise.
Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can sit or lie down.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, inhaling slowly through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Focus on the sensation of your breath entering and leaving your body.
Scan your body from head to toe and notice any areas of tension or discomfort. Take a mental note of these sensations without judgment.
After the body scan, bring your attention to your emotions and mood. How are you feeling today? Are you experiencing any stress, anxiety, or joy? Allow yourself to acknowledge and accept whatever emotions arise.
Take a moment to reflect on your recent activities and habits. Are there any positive choices you've made for your health and well-being? Celebrate these accomplishments and give yourself credit for taking care of yourself.
Similarly, identify any areas where you may need improvement. Are there any unhealthy habits or choices you've been making? Without judgment or self-criticism, make a mental note of these areas as opportunities for growth and positive change.
Finally, set an intention or goal for the day or week ahead that aligns with your health and well-being. It could be as simple as drinking more water, taking regular breaks from sitting, or incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your meals. Write them down in a journal, or even on your phone.
Take one more deep breath, open your eyes, and gently bring yourself back to the present moment.
If you are new here, consider subscribing to stay in touch on what we’ve been working on!
With Gratitude,
Shan
